Ukraine continues to battle DDOS attacks

Ukraine vs Russia

Cyber attack in Ukraine concept. Ukrainian flag background. Russia hacker

Since the onset of the war on Feb. 24, the Ukraine government has tallied 3,000 DDOS strikes, including a one-day high of 275.

The State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine says: “Russia’s aggression, the intensity of cyberattacks against Ukraine’s vital information infrastructure hasn’t decreased. While Russian missiles are targeting the physical infrastructure of communication and broadcasting, Russian hackers are targeting our information infrastructure.”

“Russian hackers most often attacked the information resources of government agencies, institutions, and companies in the financial and telecommunications sectors. The majority of problems in the functioning of networks is related to their physical damage that we still manage to repair” says Victor Zhora, deputy chairman of the communication and information protection service.

Cyberattacks on networks are a concern for carriers and operators.

To assist, the Ukraine government claims it has established a national roaming scheme to let Ukrainians stay online even if their operator’s network is momentarily unavailable due to conflicts or damage.
